Finally the big day has come
I am stoked to be marrying the most wonderful girl in the world, Nicole Gilbert, on the weekend. The venue is the coastal town of Robe, and the weather looks like it will be fantastic (touch wood). Very excited...

 

 

Agri-Links Ball 2007
Held at Rymill Winery on the 6th of October, once again it was a fantastic night, with local graphics guru Ben Hood on the Guitar (is there nothing he cannot do?). A great night had by all.

Baume” is the term used to explain the percentage of sugar in the grapes before ferment. For example, 12.5° baume will be converted by yeast to 12.5% alcohol (if fermented to completion, or "dry"), more or less. "Brix" is the french term, and is generally double that of the baume (23° Brix is 12.5 Baume)

The ultimate dinner party:
All advice on recipes warmly welcome

Lamb and lemon skewers
Lamb and lemon skewers Serves: 4
Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 12 minutes
 
800 g   Lamb rumps, cut into 2cm cubes
cup   lemon Juice
1 tbsp   olive oil
2 tsp   dried oregano
2   small red onions, cut into 6 wedges
2   small lemons, halved
4   pita breads
cup   (120g) hummus
100 g   mixed salad leaves
Method
1.   Combine Lamb, juice, oil and oregano. Cut the halved lemon into 1cm slices. Thread Lamb onto skewers, alternating with lemon slices and onion.
2.   Preheat a large frying pan or barbecue until moderately hot. Cook skewers for 2-3 minutes on each side or until cooked to your liking.
3.   Remove the Lamb from the heat, cover loosely with foil and rest for 3 minutes before serving. Serve with pita breads, hummus and salad leaves.
Tip:
You can also use Lamb steaks (round or topside) for this recipe.

Peel Estate Shiraz 2000 Western Australia - $33
We tasted this one Blind the other day for
www.shiraz.com.au , and it came up absolutely trumps in the group. Stole this from our distributor in Brisbane (Barrique fine wines-0405 176 083). Was up against some smart 2005's, and looked brilliant - would never have picked it was 7 years old. Only 45 minutes South of Perth, for those of you in WA.
