The Big Day
Wow, what weather - you wouldn't read about it. Between a blustery cold day on the Friday, and a drizzly day on Sunday, the main day was nothing less than perfection. I'm going to be paying back the big man/woman upstairs for a lifetime for that one. What can I say? As Barney French said, there was a lot of love in the room.

What a Day....
Well, the big day finally came and went, and what a day. Unusually spectacular weather for Robe saw punters with their first sunburn of the Summer, but other than that it went off without a hitch. Even the beach looked like somewhere in the Caribbean (Robe is definitely not in the Caribbean.). And of course, the bride looked nothing less than absolutely stunning. And in true style, I went kite surfing 2 days before and broke a bone in one foot and tore a ligament in my heel on the other foot....doofus.

All the pro shots were done by Shane Reid ( www.fotonaut.com )Thanks to all those who took photos and sent them to us - it really means a lot.

Is That So...
Popeye was wrong.  In reality, spinach has no more iron in it than any other vegetable.  This spinach misconception dates back to the 1950's when a food analyst made an error while calculating the iron in spinach.  His decimal place was off by one place, suggesting that spinach had ten times as much iron content than it really did.

Quote of the Day:
"Wino Forever"
Johnny Depp's tattoo (The tattoo once read 'Winona Forever' back when it was fashionable to date crazy Kleptomaniacs.)

What Would MacGyver Do?:
Cooking in a hotel room part II
: Marinade Grilled chicken with steamed vegetables.
1). Use the ice bucket to marinade chicken.
2). Use the iron as a skillet/grill: Wrap chicken in foil, place the foil-wrapped food on the ironing board, and put the iron, on the highest setting, over the top.
3). Use the coffee maker as a vegetable steamer. Place carrots, broccoli, etc. in the filter of the in-room coffee maker.
4). Run water through the coffee maker several time to achieve desired tenderness.
5). Bon Appetite.

Word of the Day:  bibulous (BIB-yuh-luhs), adjective: 1. Of, pertaining to, marked by, or given to the consumption of alcoholic drink. 2. Readily absorbing fluids or moisture.

  Wine-to Go:
Bay of Apostles Shiraz 2006 $20.
The new label people! All our new range reds are excellent value for money, and I stand by it. This one is a monster at 14.5% Alc, but you wouldn't know it. Very soft tannins, and is just coming out of bottle shock, so is starting to look great. At the last minute we decided to add just a dash of Coonawarra Shiraz to give it a bit of pepper. you can only get this by call in 1300 55 81 87. More on this next email...

Scotchmans Hill Shiraz 2005 $35
These guys have been one of the first in the Geelong region, and regardless of their size (they sell 35,000 cases into Melbourne alone), are still holding their quality top notch in all of their wines.

Tasted this wine last year, and it was tighter than a ducks butt. Cracked another bottle at Lou's, in Apollo Bay, and it was silky smooth, and lookin' fiiiine.... Maybe a bit pricey, but still worth seeking out a bottle.
