This wine has an intense colour with
very soft tannins,
and no residual sugar. Yet it still tastes sweet which shows
just how perfectly balanced
the vines were that this wine
came from. Keeping the grapes very small means we can still
get the intense colour and flavour from our grapes without
pressing them too hard.

Big rich blockbuster of a red.
In typical Koonara style all the
residual sugar has been fermented dry, but the wine still tastes
sweet. This one is the sweetest of the lot, with natural fruit
and new oak leaving a sweet chocolate tobacco finish.
It's a
knockout, but finishes so smooth you wouldn't know.

The Great Ocean Road stretches over 400 kilometres, from
Melbourne to the Border of South Australia. At one end, is the
cooler Port Phillip area, famous for the Pinot Noir and cool climate
Shiraz. At the other end is an equally famous region, The Limestone
Coast. Pinot Noir sourced from the cooler parts of both these
regions
in equal measures has seen the tight acid of the fruit from the
Bellarine part of the Port Phillip balance with the richer fruit
sweetness of the Mt Gambier part of the Limestone Coast. The wine
has
been in 80% new tight French oak, and 20% in 2nd year or older
barrels.
