Angel Sparkling Pinot Chardonnay 2008
This is the first Sparkling Wine for Koonara Wines and it looks very smart. Here at Koonara to make the best wine possible means sourcing wines from different regions to achieve greater complexity. Mt Gambier produces fantastic luscious Pinot, while Geelong produces a deep structured cool climate Chardonnay. Only the free run juice is used for the Chardonnay (Cuvee), while the very gentle pressing of the red Pinot grapes give a more complex flavour (as well as the blush colour). Enjoy!

Ambriel is the angel of communication, and guides us to truth and clarity. Ambriel is also considered to be an angel of general protection, and presides over the sun sign of Gemini and the month of May.
________________________________________________________________ Ezra is the angel who encourages writers, and helps people open doors to their ability and self expression. This is from our vines which are 10 years old. We waited until this vineyard was developed enough to produce the big flavours you get from smaller grapes (the smaller the grape, the more flavour you get from the skins). Not your usual cool climate shiraz - On the nose is hints of black pepper, with big, long blackberry Jam flavours. The 2002 vintage produced some of the ripest richest shiraz for years, and it's getting better. As of writing this (January 2007), it is still sweet tasting but has taken on a depth of flavour with earthy, smoky tones, making it much better match with winter style foods (Osso Bucco, char-grilled Scotch fillet with caramelised onions, etc) |

Cabernet Sauvignon 2004 - $18
Cupra is the angel of Sunlight. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2004 Vintage saw 3 tonnes per acre came of this vineyard, with very little water, keeping the berries small. This wine has been in French Oak barrels for 12 months, displaying a fantastic vanilla, chocolate and blackberries nose, with a molasses and blackcurrant finish. This wine has a smooth sweetness, yet has no residual sugar, the mark of a premium quality wine. A screwcap on this wine means it will still age, but have no chance of any cork taint. A new vintage, and this wine is massive for its price. Hold the bottle up to the light to see how dense it is if you don't believe me! The bouquet is of ripe blackcurrants, vanilla, dark chocolate and spicy leathery complexity. TASTING NOTES- The bouquet is of ripe blackcurrants, vanilla, and dark chocolate. The wine has an extremely rich and bold palate with flavours dominated by blackberry and vanilla coffee. Very soft mouth-feel, with an extra-long, persistent blackcurrant pastille & vanilla molasses finish.
WINEMAKERS
NOTES:
2004 was one of the best vintages seen in Coonawarra. A sweet, very soft
wine, with no fermentable residual sugar left, showing the even ripening
of the 2004 season and quality of the grapes used. Fine grain vanilla
French oak can be seen in a wine this young, and age will see this
integrate with the wine, creating complex earthy tones. At this price
exceptional value for money

Named after my Grandma – 93 on the family property and still going Strong!
A soft easy
drinking savoury style; this wine spent only two hours on skins
to capture the soft floral varietal characters but also to limit
the extraction of tannins. The resultant softness has meant that
very little residual was needed to give a balanced mouthfeel.
The fruit is ripe and perfumed with obvious raspberry,
blackberry and
confection notes almost 'jelly baby or musk stick' like
characters .

PALATE; Lime zest, but is much more complex now that it has a bit of age to it.
The natural crispness will
