A great balance of sweetness and refreshing lime and floral notes, along with low alcohol (7%), making it easier to have a glass or two during dinner. So raise your glass - here's to friends. You will taste crisp apple and gooseberry notes. Mount Gambier is even cooler than Marlborough in New Zealand, so the long growing period allows the grapes to develop an abundance of flavours.

Crisp pink lady apples, white peach and grapefruit zet. As it warms in the glass, hints of honey and peach flesh shine through. Pinot Grigio and Pinot Gris are the same grape variety. Pinot Grigio is Italian, Pinot Gris is French. "Grigio' and "Gris" both mean grey, which is the hue present in the colour of the grapes. Winemakers in Australia describe Gris as a late picked, more complex wine with crisp acidity.

Mount Gambier is the coolest region on the mainland of Australia, allowing flavours in the grapes to develop longer while still keeping their crispneess. This produces rich lemon and lime Chardonnay. A complexity of minerality, flavours and a long finish. "Strong aromas of ripe Fuji apples with a hint of citrus peel, great mousse, a good dose of sweetness on the front palate with liverly ripe apple flavours with just a trace of musk on the finish. Complex, unusual and yummy" Dan Traucki, Wine Writer 2019

Tiny berries went into this wine - you can tell by the deep colour. The flavour comes from the skin, so the smaller the berry, the more colour and flavour. This wine is almost unique at this price point, in that it will get better over 10 years.  Intense sweet cassis fruit nose and lovely blackcurrant juciness on the warming palate with its fine tannins.   Critics Review: Award winning Coonawarra Cabernet Our Wanderlust, Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon 2015 vintage was awarded: • Equal Top In Category, Winestate Magazine 2018 “Intense sweet cassis fruit nose and lovely blackcurrant juiciness on the warming palate with its fine tannins and as one judge described – 'salivating acidity'.” • Gold - 13th G100 International Wine and Spirits Awards 2019 • Silver - Huon Hooke 2019

    1000 Sundowns Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

    ,
Named after Emma Louise's beautiful song and dedicated to my Mum & Aunt, who got to be in their husbands "arms for 1000 sundowns; it was a love worth remembering." In 2017, our Coonawarra vineyards were certified to Australian Organic standards, and no pesticides have been used on the property for over 10 years. We use natural alternatives likes flowers to attract bugs which eat our pests. Small berries like ours, express more colour and flavour and the skins natural soft tannins will naturally help this wine age well until 2029.

What Australia does best! Aged in French oak barrels for 2 years, this is a elegant cool climate Shiraz, that will age well until 2025. Our aim is to make a complex sparkling Shiraz. Cool climate Shiraz works great as a sparkling, as the mint notes make it refreshing on hot days when you feel like a steak. The oak ages has given some nice Christmas cake complexity, but still with fresh blackcurrants and licorice.

"There is a buzz around pinot grown in Mount Gambier and theres is a good reason for it.  Cool growing conditions, rocky mineraly soils and low yielding vines have helped create a complex bouquet awash with true Pinot characters. It has hints of vanilla and fresh tobacco over spicy cherry notes. This is a more-ish tribute to the local landscape and begs for foggy evenings, an armchair and plenty of time to waste" Katie Spain, wine Writer, Adelaide Adveriser 2019

    Silver Eyes Shiraz 2017

    ,
Koonara is the name of our Coonawarra estate whwere our family has lived for over 110 years. When wine is aged in fine oak barrels, a portion evaporates - winemakers call this the 'Angels Share.' From this, the koonara Angel was born. This wine is named after my beautiful wife Nicole, who has piercing blue eyes with hints of yellow, making them look silver. A great example of a cool climate year in Coonawarra with fresh coffee and dark chocolate layered with fresh blackberries and spice. Aged for 18 months in 100% French oak 300L Hogsheads.

    RSV Shiraz 2016

A special release, this was the last vintage before our winemaker sold his vineyard. No residual sugar and below organic levels of sulphur. This wine has been aged for 3 years in French hogshead barrels, giving this wine time to develop a huge complexity of mulbrerries, vanilla and spice. With a hint of dark chocolate. 2016 was an amazing year and one that will age well until 2029.

The grapes for this cool-climate Chardonnay are grown in Mount Gambier, the coolest mean maximum temperature average of any wine region in mainland Australia. 50% of the wine was matured in new French oak Hogshead barrels for 4 months, which brough on a malo-latic ferment (2nd ferment) changing the malo acids into lactic acid the same as in milk and butter giving it a creamy mouth feel. The remaining 50% of the wine was fermented with select year. This single ferment keeps the crisp lime, pink lady apple and mineral notes. This is 'left on lees' (the dead yeast after ferment) and is stirred to increase flavours and complexity.

A seriously good shiraz, wielding its power through persuasion, not brute force; high quality French oak is certainly obvious, but the waves of black fruits and ripe tannins carry the oak - or vice versa. Extended cellaring will be handsomely repaid." • Gold at the Melbourne International Wine Competition.

Small batch and family made wines

We are proudly a small family owned winery based in Coonawarra. Our Coonawarra vineyards produce organically grown Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz, which are planted on Coonawarra’s famous red terra rossa soil.

Just 90km down the road our Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Sparkling Chardonnay, Chardonnay, Rosé, Riesling, and Pinot Noir grapes are grown in Mount Gambier – ‘the coolest region in mainland Australia’. The long growing period allows these grapes to develop an abundance of flavours without losing their crisp freshness.

A Certified Organic Vineyard since 2017

We grow our grapes chemical free and have done so for over 10 years. In 2017 we received certification from the Australian Certified Organic Standards for our Coonawarra Vineyard.

Finding new ways to reduce our impact on the land is very important to us. We grow selected flowers to attract ‘good bugs’ that eat our ‘bad bugs’. We also spend as much time focused on what’s under the ground – soil heath helps keep our vines strong, so pests and disease have less impact. Find out more about how we are working to reduce our impact on the planet with our spray program.

Preservative Free Wine

Sulphur in wine is used as a preservative and helps kill unwanted yeasts, bacteria, and protects wine from oxidation. Too much sulphur in wine can give people allergies and headaches – that’s why all our wines are made with below organic levels of sulphur, less than 100ppm. Australian Food standards allow for a maximum of 250ppm in dry wine, and up to 300ppm for sweet wines.

No Residual Sugar in our Wines

There is no residual sugar in any of our red and white wines. They still taste sweet, showing perfect balance in our vineyards.

* The exception to this is in our Moscato, and just a touch in our Sparkling Shiraz. With these two exceptions, our wines are completely diet friendly; including Ketogenic.

All our wines are vegan friendly and gluten free.

By law, we may only supply alcohol to persons aged years or over. We will retain your date of birth for our records.
